What should we expect?
You will meet with a counselor to explore how things got so confusing and messy, and learn the skills you need to create a fulfilling relationship that can last a lifetime. In the very first session, we introduce you to a clear way of communicating that is emotionally safe and promotes respectful listening. We will develop a plan based on your unique needs as a couple to find ways to improve communication, reduce stressors and create true closeness.
Sessions are for couples of any orientation, gender, or commitment level.
As your couples therapy continues, you will practice validation and empathy, without judgment or criticism. You will learn various ways to get your needs met and to grow into the best partner possible.
Your counselor will give you focused activities to practice at home in between your sessions. This practice is an important part of developing your relationship skills so you can use them in your "real life," outside of the therapy office.
In addition, we will take an in-depth look at the ways each of you get "triggered" and upset. Learning to heal old wounds and treating each other with kindness and daily loving behaviors will move you into a more positive and satisfying relationship.
