Be the Partner That You Would Like To Have
This is a variation of the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Ask yourself, "What is it like to come home to me?" Are you warm, welcoming, inviting, kind, caring, and thoughtful? Isn't that what you want? Maybe you think you are too angry and frustrated to behave this way; maybe you think your spouse doesn't deserve nice from you. And yet, acting ticked-off and annoyed just gets you more of the same. You are probably both ready for a change from the same old destructive behavior. Revive the behaviors that you used in the early days of your relationship—they worked back then, and they can work again, now.
